Sona nightclub (which closed in 2004) was the first large scale after hours club in Montreal. more
The club featured the hottest names in DJ talents and was always packed. Even though it was right in downtown Montreal, you had to know where to look to find it since the entrance was behind a building which lead to a large basement. The mystery added to the after hours club’s atmosphere. The bathrooms were sex and drug (ecstasy & speed) havens. The crowds would pour into Sona at 3am when the other night clubs would close. Quebec law forbids bars and clubs from selling alcohol after 3am so Sona would sell water, energy drinks (like Guru and Red Bull) and smart drinks (essentially tang with caffeine). 514 Productions, Montreal’s leading rave event promoter, was involved with the club for a while. Sona was a lot of fun but there are other Montreal afterhours clubs to keep you dancing, grooving, partying, and chilling, all night long.
