from The Met Armagh website, October 2000 ....
"There isn’t much this guy doesn’t know about pleasing the crowd as he’s been on the Northern Ireland DJing circuit for a few years. Holding down residencies across the province he’s been responsible for ripping it up at McElroy’s (Omagh), Caesar’s (Armagh) and Clubland (Cookstown) before landing behind the decks at THE MET. Placing great emphasis on getting to know the crowd, Mal is a great believer in practicing what you preach and enjoys the input he can make to the dance scene. ‘Being resident you have to play different styles of music throughout the night, usually kicking off with funky house and progressing to your main set. You get to know your crowd, how far you can take them and what risks you can take with them.’ With Mal Black mastering the mix you’re always in good hands as he perfectly balances the ratio of ground breaking tunes with anthems and old favorites to ensure maximum effect.A self confessed vinyl Junkee, in his spare time he tends to his massive record collection which consists of tracks dating from the sixties to the present."
