Salute, friends and like-minded people!
The pre-holiday SKANMI podcast for December was recorded by Victor Victory with greetings from 1997 :)
Victor Victory: "Welcome to my one thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven. Welcome to the era of techstep. No matter how anyone tries to use concepts, when techstep is mentioned, exactly these records sound in my head. Period 95, 96, 97 and a little 98. And if someone plays something different, I am sincerely upset. It’s hard to do without epithets here - fatal, manic, merciless, evil. It wasn't about dancing or sales. The concept was completely different from the usual one. More like a test of depth, who will further reveal the boundaries of what is permissible. Territory of experiments. And in order to avoid unnecessary prejudices, the musicians excluded their presence in the music. No connection to names, surnames, or persons. Just the facts. And let's go over the records a little. In 2017, Dj Zinc finally acknowledged the authorship of "Zenith - Immortal / Damaged". I consider it his best work. He probably didn't want the record to be associated with him. With the usual Zinc as everyone knew him. In 2012, Decoder acknowledged participation in the Pure Instinct project (the first track in the mix). "Jonny L - Obedience" - I witnessed a fire in the house opposite when this track was playing (I didn’t have time to turn off the tape recorder). The feeling of horror and helplessness superimposed on this canvas is the perfect soundtrack to fucked up. The mix opens with a high-pitched library sample that Jonny L and Decoder often used at the time. Actually, you will hear it in the very first track. If I'm not mistaken, Jonny L used this sample in three tracks. I am one of those who never renounced this kind of music, but still preferred to collect (not play). I always felt sorry for wasting records. But here I must admit, during the mixing process I caught myself thinking how cool the tracks are revealed in the mix. Although I always perceived them as full-fledged canvases. I won’t lie, the mix is largely dedicated to Anton DJ Mixmaker. Anton played this material on Station 106.8 FM. I often played at night - one might say idle, because only a few listened to the radio at night. So I was one of them, because I studied at the Moscow Architectural Institute. There is no sleep at the Moscow Architectural Institute; sleep is for the weak. After 1998, the meaning was largely distorted. The sawing-out synthesized bass was stuffed into a model of a mind-eating worm - "Wormhole" (Ed Rush & Optical debut album). All of this became therapy in many ways. Like a guitar in rock and roll. The mix does not include releases from Metalheadz, and you know very well who Goldie is. Hello everyone and happy New Year. Sincerely yours, Victor Victory."
Happy holidays, happiness, love, peace and more good music!
Peace and light to everyone🤘🏻🤘🏻
