It's 50 years since the introduction of the Sexual Offences Bill in the UK in 1967, which finally decriminalised sex between two men in private. It was by no means the end of equal rights for gay men and women in Britain, which has continued right up to today, but it was neverthless a watershed in liberalising the laws in the UK and an important step towards equal rights for everyone regardless of sexual orientation. This is a celebration of the music played in gay clubs over the past half century. Some of the songs were written or performed by gay men and women. Some of them have a gay theme. Some of them were appropriated by the gay community and became anthems. And some of them are just amazing tracks that were played on the dancefloors of gay clubs. I've been lucky enough to experience many of these moments myself in gay clubs in London and New York.
