A preview of the new radio channel BBC will start this summer BBC Radio 1Xtra, a station dedicated to playing the very best in contemporary, young, black, music. Covering all the popular 'urban' music genres such as Hip Hop, UK Garage, Ragga and RnB, 1Xtra will provide a unique radio service primarily aimed at a young audience who are ill-served by both the BBC and the commercial currently sector.
