i don't see any fronts between discogs and mixesdb. we're all "fighting" on the same side.
discogs has the best database for record releases
you have the best database for mp3 dj sets.
i have made some comments contribution to mixesdb in the past already and i will do so in future, as i will do at discogs.
i would like to see more references to mixesdb in the internet. it's kind of messy to keep track with all the different sets which are spreaded under different names. so your site is really great to have an overview.
i've now registered at mixesdb, but submitting new mixes looks kinda difficult. i'll do so if i have some time to check the technical procedure.

Of course no fronts :) Nothing against the forums though, it's just that I hate the discogs administration from the bottom of my heart. I contributed over 4 years to discogs, was a mod for a year when they still had mods and added 1800 releases cos I thought it's a good thing. But then I saw the admin has no clue, the site is completely misadministated so I hate it since the marketplace came up and esp since V4. The admin got a millionaire by all the work done by the community and he gives nothig back. He's even too closefisted to hire a proper coder or webdesigner. Everything good he added in the past years was just for the marketplace ($$$$) or to please the crying hardcore users.

Here is the new year countdown live on youtube. Laurent Garnier is already playing at this moment (Track 23, 01:56:33), Layo is still standing in the DJ Booth. So if they played after each other, Laurent Garnier started somewhere before that.
Since Laurent Garnier has made himself a name with super long sets of more than six hours (10 hours at Time Warp Holland 2008) recently, i don't think it's back2back. There isn't any hint for back2back, so I think Layo started and Laurent Garnier took over somewhere before midnight.
