You have a new mix to enter?
Basically adding your first mix with the help section works like this:
- 1. Click Add A New Mix in the sidebar. You need to enter the page name by entering the page name first as described in this help page below.
- 2. Add a template form from the Templates list and fill in the DL link, kbps, MB, duration.
- 3. To fill the category fields, read the Categories Help.
- 4. To fill the rest, read the File Details Help.
- 5. After entering your mix, see the history page on the mix page for the fixes beeing made afterwards.
- 6. If your added mix has a duration above 4 hours it should be added on the Long Mixes list. You can do so by editing the page or lesaving a comment.
A New Mix?
Consider this:
- We only include mixes of which files do exist online.
- You can also add your homemade mixes / mixes by unknown DJ's. But they must come with full tracklisting and be added to
[[Category:Promo Mix]]. - Search the database before if the mix is not in already under a different date / name.
When you have another version of the exisitng mix entry, you can add a new version. But be sure your mix is an addition in:
- Duration: If your version is longer, add yours as Primary Version and the existing one as Secondary Version.
- Sound Quality: If it's the same content (duration) but in better quality, replace the exsiting version as Secondary Version and yours as Primary Version.
Note: Better quality doesn't have to be higher bitrate only. An 128 Kbps MP3 can still sound better than 160 Kbps.
Add A New Mix
To add a new mix, click the "Add A New Mix" link on the left sidebar.
The entries follow a certain formatting, so don't just copy the name from the file title for from a forum.
The title can only be changed after saving the page, so please set it up correctly in this first step already.
Note that the Date is always in front and in Year-Month-Day format because this results in having all mixes sorted by date in all categories.
| Date | - | Artist | @ | Event / Club / Radio Show / Radio Station |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YYYY-MM-DD YYYY-MM YYYY or YYYX | the "-" is forced | DJ not Dj | >> | in this order (when applicable) use @ for clubs, events and live acts, for radio mixes read this |
So possible examples could look like this:
1998-11-23 - Luke Vibert @ Sonar, Barcelona
2005-05 - Underground Resistance - Live @ Fuse-In Detroit (Live Acts always with - Live @)
2004-08-28 - Carl Craig & Derrick May @ TDK Cross Central Festival at Kings Cross, (Breezeblock, 2004-08-31)
1999-09-27 - Thorsten Mesrine & DJ Lexington - Fluffy Ambient Garden on Evosonic
1997 - Massive Attack - Novamix, 02-12-1997
Dates: The last example applies when you're unsure about the order of month and day, as used differently in US and in Europe,
e.g. when you have a mix only titled as "DJ @ Club, 03-07-2004". That's the safest way to name the Mix page correctly without entering wrong info.
DJ & DJ: Use & oly when the DJs really played back to back together. If they only play after each other use "DJ, DJ"
After hitting the [Add a new Mix] button, you'll be taken to an empty article page. It needs to be filled with a template form. Select the one fitting template for your needs from Help: Templates.
The Joiner: Live vs @ vs -
Radio:
One thing most people don't understand is that most radio shows broadcast pre-mixed sets (mostly club recordings).
There are only a few exceptions of live radio shows with DJ's in the studio like Clubnight or the old Dance Under The Blue Moon shows. If that's the case we add an @ to the file name, if not it's just Artist - Radio Show. Example:
2007-05-12 - Pierre @ Clubnight but 2007-05-27 - Carl Cox - Essential Mix
Club:
All this might sound like nitty gritty but it comes from the fact that the DJ is not live in the studio and if, we wouldn't use "Live @" as for clubs since that is used for Live Acts. So "Artist @ Club" already means it's live. What else should it be if not live!? A holographical stream of the DJ in the club from the past or future? ;)
If you're unsure if it's a DJ set or Live Performance, just use @ so it's not wrong at all.
If it's an artist's Live PA aired on a radio show we use "Artist (Live) - Radio Show".
Add New Regular Show
Description
- This is for easily adding standard shows which have the same page formatting on each entry.
- It uses templates that are already filled with the standard data which is the same on all mix pages of the show.
- All templates are formatted for 2008, but you could easily add older years by changing the 2008 in the inputbox and in the loaded template yb editing it for the time you work with it.
- Each of those show categories has a new box, linking to the according row.
- This list of shows is not static, new ones are added from time to time.
- If you want to request a new template you want to use regulary, post a comment below.
Usage
- Check Category: use it to check if the episode you want to enter is really not there yet.
- Tracklists: open this in a new window in order to copy the tracklist and the Tracklist source URL (the given link here is most likely not your exact deep link you want to add as "Tracklist source" in the template).
- The Template | Intro links are for maintenance use only. The may appear blank, but edit it to see / change the code.
- Inputbox: Add the month and day behind "2008-" so it reads e.g. 2008-03-05 - Karotte - Karottes Kitchen. If you find an XX at the end that means all episodes are numbered. Change it to the specific episode needs, e.g. guest DJ name...
- Hit "Create" and you'll be taken to the edit page with the loaded template. On top you will find the Category and TL links again plus some individual advice. This is the same as when you'd have added the mix the normal way by typing everything yourself.
- Just fill the missing info in the template like the tracklist, the tracklist source URL and maybe change the style and fill the file details if no "Standard Show" info is added per default. Although everything is filled, be careful about the Tracklist state category and maybe the style.
Individual Template
You can create your own template using your user page. So you can reach the inputbox by just clicking you user name on top.
